The Special Care Unit serves multiply challenged children of ages between four and eighteen years. Children with profound physical disabilities, multi-sensory impairments, severe developmental disorders and complex communication needs are the main candidates for this Unit.
The Unit aims to provide the following:
- Specialized multi-sensorial intervention comprising of functional and stimulating activities that facilitate greater participation of the children within their respective social and cultural contexts
- Intensive follow up of individual child’s Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) programme for children with complex communication needs
- Caters to children who require ‘special care’ due to their medical and health issues
