VOLUNTEER WITH US
At Al Noor we greatly appreciate our volunteers, who donate their time and skills to help us. If you have time to spend with our students, share your talents (such as for music or art) or simply help them in their daily tasks, we would love to hear from you. Our ideal is to offer the children one on one care. Each volunteer at the centre brings us a step closer to that goal. Alternatively, if you would like to bring your skills to one of our administrative departments, we would value your help. We enjoy sharing what we do and know that our volunteers are some of our best ambassadors in the wider community.
Our Volunteer Interaction Programme is open to anyone over the age of 16. No specific qualifications are required – just commitment. All prospective volunteers must attend an orientation session at the centre. This includes a presentation to give information about the school, followed by a guided tour, where you will see our classrooms and other units in action and meet some of our staff and students. The orientation tours take place every other Monday during term time.
Our Corporate Interaction Programme enables employees of companies to volunteer at Al Noor, bringing us their skills and knowledge. We ensure that all volunteers receive a comprehensive brief about the centre and together we decide what each individual can do, depending upon skills and area of interest. Some corporate volunteers choose to work directly with the children, some help in our Administration or our Sustainability and Community Relations Department. Others elect to assist at our fundraising events. We request that a minimum of 10, or maximum of 25, people attend a Corporate Interaction programme. Kindly book your date well in advance to that we can all get maximum benefit from your participation.
Our Student Interaction Programme brings students from mainstream educational institutions to Al Noor. Under our supervision, they get to know our students, learn about their disabilities and how to help them overcome their difficulties. It is a great way of increasing awareness about the determined ones amongst young people.

Do I need to attend an orientation briefing?
It’s mandatory for all volunteers who will be working directly with the children. We hold the briefings every other Monday at 10.30am. When you receive our volunteer documentation, Form 01 will give details of the dates.
What will the orientation briefing include?
You will see a short video presentation of the work we do at Al Noor and then you will be given a tour of the centre, which lasts approximately 1.5 hours.
Do you require any documentation?
We will ask you for a copy of your passport, a copy of your UAE visa and a No Objection Certificate from your sponsor.
How soon can I start as a volunteer?
You may start as soon as you have attended an orientation briefing, completed the Volunteer Interaction Programme (VIP) registration form and returned it to us.

Timings vary according to the work you volunteer to do. If you work in the classrooms with the students, you can volunteer anytime between 8am – 1pm. To volunteer during weekend events, please email us to firstname.lastname@example.org
Where in the centre will I volunteer?
When you complete the Volunteer Interaction Programme Form 02, please let us know where in the centre you would prefer to work and what you would like to do. Depending on the needs of our different units, we will do our best to accommodate your wishes and, if we can’t, we’ll try to find another role you will enjoy.
What should I wear?
We advise you to wear cool and comfortable clothes. We recommend you don’t wear very loose clothing or large jewellery items as some of the children may be distracted by them.
Where do I report to when I arrive at Al Noor?
Please report to the reception each day. On the first day you will received an ID card and this should be worn at all times when you are in the centre.
Where to I put my belongings when I am volunteering?
You can take them with you into the classrooms so that you are able to look after them. All volunteers are responsible for their own belongings when they are at the centre.
Are meals provided during my volunteering hours?
We are unable to provide meals but there are 2 outlets within the school where you can buy food. Our Smiles n Stuff shop is open from 8am – 2pm and from 3pm – 6pm and sells coffee and cookies. We also have a tuck shop, open from 10am – 10.30am which sells limited snacks.
Does Al Noor provide transportation for volunteers?
We do have a bus service from Bur Dubai and Karama every day. We pick up our volunteers in the morning at 9am and drop them off at 11.30am. Our reception will provide you with more details. We regret we don’t have the resources to organise transportation for volunteers to and from other areas or at other times.
What should I do if there is a crisis or an emergency?
Please refer to an Evacuation Plan. These are placed around the centre for your information. If you are in a classroom, please follow the teacher’s evacuation instructions.
Are certificates or any other forms of recognition given to volunteers?
We ask you to complete a minimum of 40 volunteer hours before we issue you with a certificate. As a thank you, we invite all our volunteers to join us at an end of year party which takes place towards the end of the school year in June.
